What is special about the OXIL
text to speech system?
The OXIL system offers online, real-time, phonetic corrections, which are then added to your Global dictionary.
We also offer an Editing Suite, for the fine grained speech editing of HTML, PDF, Word and plain text documents.
The user can:
- - control the speed at which various sections of the document is read
- - insert pauses
- - alter pronunciations
- - add text to describe images, tables or diagrams which may be present in the original document
The global dictionary is updated by changes made through the phonetic pronunciation corrector, and those made by the Editing Suite, so you only need to make the changes once for them to appear across the whole system.
For our live spoken pages, we provide a developer toolkit allowing flexibility in the way users implement our service.
The 'Click to Listen' button can either:
- - be displayed on all webpages, and read them aloud once clicked, employing any changes made to the Global dictionary;
- - be displayed only on pages where there is a perfect, tweaked, MP3 version created using the Editing Suite, available to use;
- - be displayed on every page, but will play the tweaked version where one exists, if not it will read them aloud employing any changes made to the Global dictionary
A Flash 8 compatible player is used for playback of the spoken versions of the webpages, and MP3 versions of documents.
The OXIL text to speech service is compatible across a broad range of internet browsers.
